SC3 Demonstrated ability to possess financial management skills, including experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and monitoring financial performance (e.g., payroll, budget reconciliations, transaction reports and cash budgets). SC4 Proven ability to develop procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. (Governance) SC5 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, students, and external partners. (personal qualities) Role The Business Manager is a leadership position within the College, responsible for overseeing and managing a range of critical administrative, financial, and human resources functions. This role ensures the effective delivery of services that support the smooth operation of the College while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. Key responsibilities include leading the delivery of financial services, including budgeting and accounting processes, and managing human resources, such as recruitment, staff development, and employee relations and overseeing the College''s facilities and assets. The Business Manager will also oversee educational support staff and ensure that all employees can engage in professional development. In addition, the role involves ensuring compliance with the Department of Education and Training (DET) guidelines, Child Safety Standards, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. The Business Manager is expected to take a strategic role in planning and enhancing the financial position of the College, including overseeing the budgeting process and providing staff training on financial matters. The role demands strong leadership, high ethical standards, strategic thinking, and a thorough understanding of financial management, human resources, and compliance frameworks. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Principal and other teams, actively contributing to decision-making processes that affect the College''s operational efficiency, financial health, and overall success. This position requires attendance of 30 days during school vacation periods. A leave purchase allowance is paid for this attendance. Annual Leave entitlement is 4 weeks. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Principal, the Business manager is responsible for the complex general accounting and reporting functions of the School, together with compliance reporting, administrative systems and the supervision of staff. Responsibilities: To manage and provide leadership in the delivery of administrative and financial services within the college. To development procedures and guidelines to ensure full compliance with DET guidelines and other relevant legislation To manage and provide leadership in the delivery of Human Resources to the College. Including overseeing of Edupay, the recruitment process through Schools Jobs Vic, and Work cover To manage and oversee the Educational Support Staff, including professional development, PDP process and regularly meeting with ES Staff. To direct and manage effective accounting processes in the college. To regularly monitor student and resource package and payroll including Salaries Transaction reports, Budget Reconciliations, Short Term Leave Replacements, Planner in consultation with the Principal and other teams as required. To take a leadership role in strategic planning processes with a particular focus on enhancing the financial position of the college. To manage the processes of determining work priorities, recruitment, probation, annual reviews, professional development and employee relations issues of college services officers, in consultation with the Principal. To take a leading role in all facets of the Budgeting process including staff in-servicing and the preparation of all Budgets for the College. To take a managerial and supervisory role in overseeing the college trading operations, including, hire of hall and college facilities, computer facilities, the sports stadium, basketball stadium and the swimming centre. To ensure all facilities and equipment are appropriately maintained, all college assets registered and required stock take of assets conducted. To provide information relating to the conditions of employment and entitlements of college employees. Participate in the OHS Committee and assist with all facets of ensuring the College complies with OHS regulations Take the lead role in ensuring that all ES staff have the opportunity to attend and participate in relevant professional development, both in house and external. To take minutes for PCC and PCO meetings In conjunction with the Principal, oversee the marketing and promotion of the College To prepare and make significant contributions to the fortnightly newsletter to all staff To comply with all requirements of the Child Safety Standards. Risk and Occupational Health and Safety comply with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participate in consultative processes observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training and instructions identify, report and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring (Risks arising in the workplace may be financial, site, task or person specific or related to safety.) promote and implement occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within the College Who May Apply Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
