Mamu Health Service Limited We are a Community Controlled Aboriginal Health Organisation providing holistic health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Innisfail and surrounding districts. Purpose of the Role The Deadly Choices Healthy Lifestyle Program Officer is responsible for delivering school and community-based health education, promotion, and prevention initiatives in alignment with the Regional Action Plan and Deadly Choices and Smoking Cessation Procedures Manuals. To summarise, it is not the intent of this position description to limit the scope or responsibilities of the role, but to highlight the most important aspects. Specific Duties Implement the Deadly Choices education program in schools and communities, covering tobacco education, the Good Quick Tukka Program, and physical activity sessions (e.g., Traditional Indigenous Games, sporting events). Distribute health information and program materials while supporting participants in making informed lifestyle choices. Conditions of Employment Compliance with all Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) immunisation requirements as per state and federal regulations. Willingness to travel and work across all Mamu Health Service Limited locations. Current QLD drivers licence. Valid First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one). Possession of a Working with Children "Blue Card." Successful completion of a Criminal History Check (AFP) upon employment commencement. Key Selection Criteria Experience in healthy lifestyle, health promotion, or community engagement programs (desirable). Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, respecting cultural traditions and values. Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills. Experience working with healthcare professionals and organisations. Understanding of the health, social, and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse community members and stakeholders. Capability to deliver health promotion programs tailored for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences. Personal commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and encouraging others to adopt positive lifestyle changes. Proficiency in business technology, including internet use, word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. This is an Identified position.
