The organisation is undergoing change as it reshapes its delivery approach and moves to a centralised model.Your new roleAssist in the delivery of financial accounting services, particularly end-of-month accounting activities, including financial reconciliations, ensuring the integrity and effective operation of the general ledgers.Assist in the provision of financial management transactional services through various accounting and IT systems, including but not limited to SAP, ExpenseMe Pro Corporate Card, and QTravel.Contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements.Support asset accounting services, including annual stocktakes, impairment and useful life reviews, monthly data integrity and compliance checks, account reviews, and other key asset accounting functions.Aid in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of financial management strategies and practices ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and government policies, promoting sound and better financial management practices.Support financial management projects, including the interpretation and analysis of financial data and performance, ensuring key outcomes are delivered on time.Assist in documenting policy, procedure, and internal control frameworks related to the Financial Management Practice Manual and associated financial accounting services to maintain consistent, high-quality practices.Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by fostering an environment of high-quality work supported by the development and adherence to quality systems.What you''ll need to succeedWhilst there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position, possession of a degree in accountancy/commerce and a CPA or CA qualification or agreed equivalent would be desirable.Possess knowledge of, or the demonstrated ability to swiftly acquire, the principles, practices, and public sector policies related to financial management, and their application to specific tasks, roles, and business areas.Previous experience in a similar Financial Accountant role is required.Ability to comprehend and comply with legislation, policies, and regulatory frameworks as they pertain to financial management.Provide accurate and timely professional and specialist advice to both internal and external stakeholders on financial accounting and policy matters.Deliver clear and timely advice, adapting communication style and language to suit the audience appropriately.Exhibit strong communication skills, including negotiation and the ability to build positive relationships with others.Demonstrate proficient computer skills, particularly in the use of spreadsheet and database applications.What you''ll get in returnShort-term contract with possible extension starting 10.03.2025Queensland GovernmentAttractive hourly rate of $59.64 p/h + superFull-time hours of 36.25hrs per week.Brisbane CBD location easily accessible by public transportWhat you need to do nowIf you''re interested in this role, forward an up-to-date copy of your resume.
