We operate 26 hospitals and services comprising more than 3,300 hospital beds, including home nursing, disability services and social outreach programs.Your role at St John of God Health CareThe Assistant Accountant is part of the Group Hospital Finance team and is responsible for transactional processing to defined standards and Service Level Agreement''s leading to month end results. You will also provide information to support Divisional requirements, including Audit, balance sheet reconciliations, productivity statistics and ad hoc requests as deemed necessary.The Assistant Accountant is a key role processing transactions in a timely and effective manner to enable month end to close and reconciliation.The PositionProcessing of daily bank accounting transactions journals for their respective Divisions within agreed timelines / month end timetable.Ensure the respective Divisional Finance Directors / Managers sign all bank reconciliations off on a monthly basis. Follow up / clear outstanding banking actions and items on a timely basis.Transfer of receipts to divisional bank accounts.Transfer of funds to/from Gift Fund and Grants bank accounts.Ensure monthly bank reconciliations are accurate and complete.Month end processing including preparation of journals and month end reconciliations.Assist SMA/MA with end of month balance sheet reconciliations, reporting and FBT analysis as directed.Establish, maintain and adhere to detailed documented procedures.Ensure accounting transactions are in accordance with Group policies.Work closely with Divisional caregivers, Billing & Receivables caregivers, Accounts Payable caregivers, Hospital Finance caregivers and Corporate Accounting caregivers.You will have sound knowledge of month-end deliverables, along with a strong understanding of accounting and finance practices and processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Your ability to effectively manage stakeholders and communicate with clarity will be essential, as will your interpersonal skills, allowing you to build positive relationships with individuals at all levels. A positive, flexible, and can-do attitude is key, with the capability to support both yourself and others in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role demands someone proactive and adaptable, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.To succeed in this role, you will need strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate information consistently. You will be proficient in computer skills, particularly Excel and Oracle, with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software packages. Additionally, you will have the ability to rapidly grasp and understand customer needs, ensuring a high level of service.
