We operate from an intersectional feminist framework, acknowledging that domestic and family violence is gender-based violence, predominantly perpetrated by men against women and children. We provide immediate individualised support and options to help victim-survivors feel safe again, whether they want to stay in the home, are thinking about leaving or have already left.Your new roleCrisis Intervention Counsellors provide phone-based crisis support to women, children, and other dependentssuch as petsexperiencing domestic and family violence across Queensland. Using a trauma-informed approach, you will assess and understand the unique needs of each victim-survivor by completing comprehensive DFV risk assessments and practical needs assessments. Based on these assessments, you will develop appropriate safety plans and referrals. Additionally, you will provide compassionate, non-judgmental crisis counselling and psychological first aid to address and support emotional and psychological concerns. Furthermore, you will offer relevant information and clear guidance to assist victim-survivors in navigating and accessing available support systems.Qualification requirementBachelors degree in social work, human services, counselling, psychology or other relevant fields.Position requirements(It is a genuine requirement for this role to be filled by a woman, as permitted under sections 25, 104, and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991)A minimum of 2 years professional experience in the social and community services sector, preferably working directly or indirectly with DFSV victim-survivors or providing crisis intervention support/ assisting high-risk clients. Other experiences relevant to working with vulnerable or at-risk individuals/families may be considered.Proven experience using relevant practice frameworks, theories or models to support vulnerable or at-risk individuals/communities.Strong knowledge, understanding of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic, family and sexual violence, and how DFSV relates to gender-based violence.Experience (or strong understanding) providing supportive and culturally safe spaces for diverse communities i.e., First Nations peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, identify with a diagnosed disability and LGBTQI+.Confident computer and telephone multitasking skills. You must be able to efficiently type case notes during calls and maintain database accuracy (Please note that Womensline is a high call volume/service demand environment computer literacy and moderate to quick typing skills is essential).Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.Proven experience working with and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including both sector and non-sector partners.Right to work in Australia (unrestricted).Hold a valid (P) BlueCard (or willingness to obtain).Valid ID.RemunerationSCHADS Award Level 4 ($43.51p/hr $46.81 p/hr).
