This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established company with a strong brand presence in the sports and entertainment merchandise industry, and significant potential for e-commerce growth.The Company is seeking a Controller to run all aspects of general financial management, accounting, treasury, tax, as well as participate in key business operation functions with the CEO. The company is based in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area. The Controller will be responsible for the entire financial function of the business, including all financial reporting, managing the Companys tax and audit advisors, financial forecasting, monitoring loan and collateral compliance, and serving as an advisor to the CEO. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO to ensure the financial health and strategic direction of the Company, including the expansion of e-commerce initiatives.This is an opportunity for an experienced Controller to join the leadership team of a well-established and growing manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce company. While the near-term requirements of the position are to primarily manage the accounting, tax, and financial aspects of the business, the Controller will be expected to contribute across a broader range of strategic and operational responsibilities as the role progresses, particularly in supporting the companys e-commerce growth. We envision this person to be the right-hand executive to the CEO, and a tremendous opportunity for a candidate with an accounting background and long-term interest in developing into a more general senior operating executive.Key Areas of Responsibility Include:Overseeing the general accounting function, which includes financial reporting, accounting, cash management/reconciliation, balance sheet management, monthly reporting, and loan compliance.Managing payroll and other compensation policies, compliance, and procedures.Ensuring that the company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for creating and reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance. Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support for the Company.Delivering timely reports to the CEO and Board of Directors; overseeing all Company financial management and operating metrics.Preparing annual financial plans in support of the operations, tracking Company progress and variance analysis. Analysis of capital investments.Responsibility for execution of monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes, including detailed monthly P&L forecasting and variance analysis, with specific attention to e-commerce performance.The role also includes responsibility, along with the CEO, for defining and implementing the IT plans and future investments envisioned to enhance the financial management of the company, with a focus on integrating e-commerce data and systems.With the CEO, the role will establish an internal system of reports to increase the level of business intelligence, and operational support decision making, including e-commerce analytics.Build and lead the finance team to support the companys vision and objectives. Develop the finance team, as well as the broader organization, to instill strong financial disciplines, fiscal responsibility, and accountability.Drive continuous process improvement and efficiency.Supervise the completion of Federal, State, and Local tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation. Also, responsible for tax related issues and meeting reporting requirements.Work with the CEO to manage the Companys insurance programs, and file claims as needed. Includes participation with those vendor relationships.Coordination of work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.Provide financial oversight and analysis of the company''s digital operations, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.Reports directly to the CEO.Qualifications:Undergraduate Degree in Accounting/Finance, or similarly relevant discipline.CPA certification is a plus.At least 5 years of combined Public Accounting and/or Private Industry accounting experience.Experience managing treasury and lender compliance (reporting and covenant maintenance) is a plus.Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce business is highly desired.Experience with inventory management is highly desired.Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.Excellent decision-making skills. Ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize and respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.Strong work ethic and adaptable. Ability to handle and manage multiple projects and work streams.
