$65k $72k per year - Depending on ExperienceYouth Off The Streets is a not-for-profit youth organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. We offer crisis accommodation and housing services, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills and employment programs, cultural support and community engagement, among other services. We focus on early interventions that empower young people and strengthen communities.Not all children and young people thrive in mainstream schools. Our registered and accredited independent high schools offer a flexible alternative for students in Years 912.We operate six independent high schools that are registered and accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Youth Off The Streets is also a member of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW).EDEN College, Macquarie Fields was opened in February 2007 and provides education for young people who are either disengaged or at risk of becoming disengaged from mainstream education. EDEN College provides both Stage 5 and Stage 6 curriculum, options and opportunities. Students are supported through Individual Learning Plans. Students work towards achieving their RoSA, progressing to Year 11 and 12, re-entering mainstream schooling or transitioning into vocational training or employment.Our school programs aim to empower young people with learning strategies to make informed decisions towards creating a positive future.About the role:We are looking for a Student Learning Support Officer on a fulltime basis to join our school in Macquarie Fields.This role works closely and cooperatively with teaching staff to provide support for student learning in classroom, small groups, and one-to-one settings. The role works predominantly with students that require additional learning support.Key Responsibilities:Learning SupportWork collaboratively with staff and families to support students with specific learning needs.Attend planning and feedback meetings with staffCollate feedback from classroom teachers on effectiveness of the learning support and targeted interventionSource and develop appropriate resources to enhance the curriculumSupport identified students at key points of transition to attend and participate in all activitiesAttend meetings/case conferences involving parents, teachers and outside agencies as requiredUndertake a wide variety of tasks associated with classroom learning experiences (e.g. providing assistance to teachers in the preparation, implementation and supervision of students through the delivery of learning programs)Assist in the design and implementation of practical activities under supervision of a teacherConfer with teachers for all matters relating to students under their careIndividual student and small group supportWork with students 1:1 in an independent environmentSupervise students with identified learning requirementsGeneral accountabilities for all staffDemonstrate duty of care to students in relation to their physical and mental wellbeingBe well informed and comply with the schools obligations in relation to Child Safe Standards and processes for reporting suspected abuseCommit to and actively support the Schools agenda for continuous improvement through participation in school improvement planning and professional growth reviewsSkills and Abilities:Possess a warm and welcoming manner as the primary point of contact for students.Excellent written and interpersonal communication skillsStrong administrative and organisational skillsConfident IT capabilitiesRequirements:Relevant tertiary qualifications i.e. Certificate III (or above) in Education Support and/or English Additional Language Dialect (EALD) and/or equivalent relevant experience.What we can offer you:A supportive team environmentCareer progression and development pathwaysEAP for yourself and your familySalary packaging up to $15,900Rewards and benefits programTo ApplyPlease ensure you enclose a copy of your resume with your contact details and cover letter addressing the essential criteria (2 pages maximum).At Youth Off The Streets, diversity, equity and inclusion are part of our DNA.
