As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.Acute medicine is one of the largest inpatient departments in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement. Staff specialists are actively involved in the training of basic and advanced physician trainees and the supervision of international medical graduates. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an evolving department and contribute to positive change in the Tasmanian health system.We have recently recruited several new staff specialists to the team and plan to expand our Acute Medicine services that we provide, so this is an exciting time to join!Responsibilities:You will have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General and Acute Medicine.Contribute to the provision of high-quality inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) in Acute Medicine.Contribute to the Department of Acute Medicines afterhours and weekend roster.Provide professional leadership to medical, nursing, and allied health staff and foster interdisciplinary teamwork.Be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as trainee and IMG supervision and mentoring.Be involved in research and undertake quality improvement activities.Actively support and participate in service development to improve current services and develop new services in the Department of Acute Medicine.A few of our benefits:Extensive salary packaging options with excellent leave benefits (including professional development leave).Mentoring and support with an inclusive and well-respected team.Diverse specialist career pathways and professional development.Collaborative relationships with a range of professionals across multiple disciplines.Generous relocation support packages plus accommodation support for when you arrive.Employer visa sponsorship and support for families for overseas applicants.Hobart offers a vibrant cultural scene, excellent educational opportunities, and easy access to outdoor activities, making it an ideal place to raise a family.Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) AwardA remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances, and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.Minimum Requirements:Holds specialist registration; orIs a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; orIs a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a preemployment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
