Job Description

Finance DirectorCleveland, OH (Southeast)Bell & Associates has been engaged to find our client their next Finance Director. The Director of Finance will oversee the management of the activities of the financial resources of the Company, as well as accounting, forecasting and planning, and accounts payable and receivable, as well as supplying the Directors & President with financial information, supporting them in strategic analysis and decisions. The Director of Finance reports to the President.A successful Director must demonstrate a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.ResponsibilitiesOversee all monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes for areas of responsibilityPrepare all required FP&A reports according to global scheduleReview account reconciliations and ensure integrity and timeliness in financial reportingPrepare certain account reconciliations and review journal entriesReview calculations for inventory costing and related reservesReview calculations for accruals, including warrantyParticipate in monthly close and post-close reviews with managementPerform professional, independent, and objective financial and business analysisPrepare, review and distribute reports and/or recommendations based on analysisUnderstand and explain variances to prior periods, forecast and plan for areas of responsibilityResearch variances and unusual items noted in reconciliation processCoordinate all audit activities for responsible areas with external audit firmProvide schedules to the external auditors and work with them on your assigned areasCompose accounting memos in a concise and easy to read mannerAdhere to policies, procedures and controls around the accounting process including proper documentationEnsure work is performed in conformance with all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.Align financial policies and procedures with company objectivesMonitors and improves internal controls and processes to ensure complianceMentor less experienced accountants within the department and perform review of their workSupervision of 2-4 direct reportsCoordinate accounting/finance matters with other departments, locations, and divisions and maintain ongoing collaborative working relationships.Requirements6+ years of experienceBS in Finance, Accounting or equivalent requiredWorking knowledge of the business, if applicableIn-depth knowledge of financial systems and can apply this knowledgeKnows and applies fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of financial specialtyWorking knowledge of compliance rules and regulationsStrong analytical skillsStrong Excel knowledgeGood understanding of budgeting and forecastingGood understanding of GAAP as it relates to job dutiesExperience with external auditSeniority level: DirectorEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Accounting/Auditing and FinanceIndustries: Manufacturing and Accounting #J-18808-Ljbffr
