We are committed to providing platforms to enable our people to engage in the business, deliver value to clients and develop their careers.The roleWe currently have a fantastic opportunity in our Ports & Maritime team for a Senior Coastal Engineer to work as part of a cohesive team to successfully deliver various coastal and maritime engineering services to a wide range of clients, including government, Port authorities and private sectors. This role may be based in multiple locations including Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.As a Senior Engineer, you will provide high quality design, analysis and engineering knowledge and effective project management skills to support the project delivery and ongoing business needs. You will be involved in planning and conducting engineering projects of a complex nature whilst proactively collaborating with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables to meet client requirements and actively contribute to the commercial success of the team.Suitable applicants will demonstrate:A minimum of 6+ years commercial experience in a similar roleDegree qualified in Civil, Structural or Maritime Engineering (or similar)Established knowledge and experience in asset management, maritime structures and port engineeringExperience managing project deliverables from start to finish, experience working on Western Australian projects would be highly desirableExcellent interpersonal skills and superior report-writing competenciesAble to undertake some travel (domestic or international)Key responsibilities and tasks for this role include:Scoping and managing the production of metocean studiesCoastal protection structures designCoastal climate change adaptation planningMarina and small craft facility designPlanning and design of small-scale up to large-scale coastal and maritime infrastructure for the ports, resources, water infrastructure, aquaculture and renewable energy sectorsManage the successful delivery of various coastal and maritime engineering projects in accordance with HSE and QA policies and procedures either individually, as part of a project delivery team, or by leading a project delivery team, depending on project complexity.Preparation of proposals, fee estimates and programs for consulting projectsLiaises with clients, potential and current, for the purposes of service delivery, networking, and business development.Provide technical leadership, mentoring and supervision for junior engineersSome intra and interstate travel as requiredChartered or actively working towards chartership and applicable RegistrationIn return, SMEC offers you the benefits that come from working in a global multidisciplinary consultancy in an environment where your fresh ideas and enthusiasm will be welcomed and rewarded.How to applyAll applications must be submitted online.
