The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.The NDIS Commission works with people with disability, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), governments, and the sector who together deliver the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).We strongly and actively encourage applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, including people with disability, First Nations peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and LGBTIQA+. We know a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace drives our success.About the RoleSenior Lawyers lead the provision of legal services to the NDIS Commission across the full range of its activities. The Compliance and Enforcement Team and Legislation and Regulatory Framework Team are currently recruiting. Work conducted by these teams will include:Advising on the application of legislation administered by the Commission, and problem-solving and supporting the making of robust administrative decisions made under the legislative framework;Advising on compliance and enforcement matters;Working closely with the Commissioner and regulatory areas to continuously improve the regulatory framework, including advising on and supporting end-to-end changes to the Commissions legislative framework;Providing legal advice and supporting the development of New Policy Proposals and Drafting Instructions relevant to legislative amendments.Duties of the RoleDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Delivering and leading the delivery of legal and related services to the Commission;Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior staff;Capability of Our Ideal CandidateThe role would suit critical and creative thinkers with a passion for the law, especially human rights law, regulatory law, commercial law, employment & workplace relations law, information law, administrative law, and legal policy & legislation development. To be successful in the role, you must thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and enjoy juggling multiple competing and constantly evolving priorities. You must be flexible and prepared to work on a variety of different matters.
