We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Rates Team Leader to oversee and manage the administration of council rates and associated charges. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and delivering exceptional service to ratepayers.As the Rates Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing rate levies, pension rebates, statutory certificates, and financial reconciliations. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring accuracy in rating processes, compliance with local government regulations, and efficient customer service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to financial sustainability within a dynamic local government environment.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the accurate levy of rates and charges per Council policy and relevant legislation.Manage the issuance of rates notices, supplementary notices, and quarterly instalments.Ensure correct rating categories are applied and manage postponements of rates in line with regulations.Undertake rates modelling and assist in the development of the rating structure.Ensure pension rebates are applied correctly and reviewed regularly for eligibility.Prepare and submit the annual Office of Local Government Pension Rebate Subsidy Claim.Supervise sundry debtor invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting.Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, council policies, and internal controls.Maintain accurate records and support audit processes.To succeed in this role, you will bring:Certificate III in Business, Finance, Administration, or relevant disciplineThree years'' experience in carrying out Rates and Revenue processes in a Local Government CouncilHigh levels of administration, organisational skills, and customer service skillsHigh level knowledge and experience in the use of PC based office application software especially Microsoft applications including Word and ExcelEffective written and oral communication skillsExperience in carrying out rates and revenue functions including maintaining the Rates Ledger.This is a unique opportunity to lead a key function within a dynamic organisation, contributing to the financial sustainability and success of PMHC.
