The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital invites applications for the position of Visitor Experience Co-Ordinator.Established in 1973, The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating koalas in need. Koala Conservation Australia Limited is a not-for-profit organisation that is run by a dedicated team of approximately 15 staff and 200 volunteers committed to koala conservation and restoring their natural habitats.What youll be doing:Work closely with the Fundraising and Marketing Managers to ensure that the Visitor Experience aligns with the mission and core values of Koala Conservation Australia.Coordinate the process of engaging external Interpretive consultants and involve internal staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders in developing interpretive themes, narratives, and content.Research and gather relevant content, such as images, videos, and artefacts, as needed by the Interpretive consultants to convey correct and meaningful key messages.Gather, assemble, and analyse available data on visitation to KCA sites and visitors to the North Coast to guide concept design and development in meeting targets.Coordinate the fabrication process, including material sourcing, contract liaisons, and adherence to design specifications and budget constraints.Oversee the installation of interpretive displays, signage, and interactive elements to ensure safe and effective installation.Collaborate on developing engaging activities and programs for visitors to promote understanding and appreciation of koalas and their habitats, enhancing the interpretive visitor experience.Establish mechanisms for monitoring visitor feedback and program effectiveness post-launch.Collaborate with staff and volunteers across the organisation to ensure that visitor experience initiatives align and integrate with broader organisational goals and objectives.Who you are:To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications and skills:A degree in a relevant field or equivalent demonstrated experience.Background in interpretive design or Visitor Experience development, including experience in creating engaging and educational experiences for visitors.Strong project coordination skills with a proven ability to oversee projects effectively.A passion for wildlife conservation, with a particular interest in koala conservation.Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders and ensure alignment of goals.Proficiency in Word, Excel, and databases.Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.Understanding of or experience in working within not-for-profit organizations and managing volunteer groups.Ability to measure and report on project management and delivery.Why Join Us:2025 is an exciting time to be joining us!Generous donations following the bushfires helped us realise our goal of building a Wild Koala Breeding facility. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is the oldest Koala Hospital in Australia and new retail, visitor experience, and landscaping will showcase the continuing essential work we do to save the koala which are now an endangered species.Every member of our team (staff and volunteers) is passionate and dedicated to saving and rehabilitating koalas. Join us, working in a unique environment and contribute to meaningful conservation efforts and make a positive impact on the local community.This is a temporary part-time position for 6 months, requiring 16 hours per week, between Monday to Sunday. There is flexibility in work times and potential work-from-home arrangements may be available to the right candidate.This role will initially be based at the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie site and may relocate temporarily to the Guulabaa complex whilst redevelopment of the Port Macquarie site takes place.
