Even if you only meet some of the criteria, wed love to hear from you.About This ProgramThe Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) is a NSW government-funded program that provides specialist psychosocial support for individuals aged 16 and older with serious mental illness. This program, delivered by Wellways, focuses on empowering participants to live independently within their communities.The program offers flexible, person-centred support that helps individuals develop skills for daily living, access healthcare, maintain housing, and participate in social and community activities. Support includes assistance with self-care, budgeting, cooking, medication management, education, employment, and building relationships. HASI works closely with Local Health Districts and other community services to provide coordinated care, helping participants live fulfilling, independent lives.This service is available across multiple regions in NSW, ensuring accessibility and tailored support to meet the diverse needs of participants. The programs are grounded in a recovery model that focuses on the individual''s strengths and goals, with an emphasis on respect, dignity, and equality.About The OpportunityThe Peer Rehabilitation and Recovery Worker role in the HASI program offers a unique chance to use your lived experience of mental ill-health and recovery to support individuals facing similar challenges. You will help participants develop life skills, regain independence, and integrate into their communities by acting as a role model of hope and recovery.In this role, you will provide practical support in areas like self-care, budgeting, and accessing health services, while also assisting participants with housing and building social connections. Youll work closely with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated, holistic support.This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about mental health, offering flexibility, travel, and the chance to make a real difference in people''s lives.You will also need:Lived experience of mental health problems and recovery, either as a person with mental health issues or in a caring roleCompletion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer Work OREquivalent practical experience working in a lived experience role AND Certificate 4 in Mental Health, or Diploma in Mental HealthA contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery-orientated mental health practiceCapacity to continuously develop practice in response to supervision, reflection, training, practice experience and feedbackRights to work in Australia and a current and valid Drivers LicenseSatisfactory Police Records Check (less than 12 months old) and Working with Children Check, before commencement or willing to obtain.NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: NDIS Training CourseNDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWSC) is mandatory before commencement.Desirable criteria:Case management experienceCommunity outreach experiencePrevious experience in providing psychosocial supportPlease submit a cover letter with your application addressing the above.About UsWellways connects people, strengthens families, and transforms communities for individuals of all ages experiencing disabilities or challenges to their social and emotional wellbeing.
