Five Bridges auspices the Maroochydore Community Justice Group (MCJG), providing administrative/financial and human resources support to enable the MCJG to conduct their core business in line with the MCJGs developed Strategic and Operational Plans.Position Purpose:The Empowering Our Mob (EOM) Project Officer will strengthen cultural connections, support healing, and assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in navigating justice pathways through mentorship, advocacy, and case management.Key Responsibilities:Cultural Connection: Foster cultural identity and empowerment, providing mentoring and cultural education and the organising of Mens and Womens Yarning Circles and other associated activities as required within the EOM program.Holistic Support: Coordinate services (e.g., mental health, housing, legal) and develop personalized action plans.Mentorship & Advocacy: Mentor participants, assist with barriers, and advocate for their rights within the justice system.Community Engagement: Build relationships with Stakeholders and represent MCJG at events.Program Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain records, evaluate participant progress, and report outcomes to meet funding body requirements.Engagement Reports: Provide engagement reports to the courts, ensuring participants'' progress is communicated effectively within legal proceedings.Court Attendances: Support participants at court proceedings.Key Skills & Attributes:Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.Community Engagement: Passion for supporting local communities and promoting healing.Mentorship & Advocacy: Experience supporting individuals through complex systems.Communication & Problem-Solving: Strong engagement skills and ability to navigate challenges.Organisational Skills: Sound administration, record keeping, time management, and case coordination abilities.Qualifications & Experience:Must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.Community-based case management experience.Knowledge of justice system challenges eg: mental health, inter-generational trauma, and substance abuse issues.Current Drivers Licence, reliable transport, and Positive Notice Blue Card (or willingness to apply).Desirable:Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, or related field.
