This is an opportunity to influence data security, privacy compliance, and governance practices across the business.Reporting to the General Manager, Governance & Audit, you will provide expert legal and strategic advice while enhancing processes and systems to embed a strong compliance culture.What youll doProvide expert legal and risk advice on privacy compliance, data management, FIRB Conditions and emerging technologies.Identify risks and develop governance frameworks to mitigate legal and compliance challenges.Support regulator engagements, external audits, and privacy compliance programs to drive continuous improvement.Enhance data governance projects and strengthen Alintas information security and compliance initiatives.Ensure privacy-by-design principles are embedded in business processes, policies, and systems.Your experience6+ years PQE legal experience (in-house or private practice) ideally with expertise in privacy, data governance, or IT-related compliance.Strong understanding of Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and governance best practices.Proven ability to interpret and apply privacy laws and risk management frameworks in a corporate setting.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide concise, business-focused legal advice.Experience in developing compliance programs, engaging with regulators (OAIC, FIRB), and advising on cybersecurity, AI, or cloud-based technologies is highly regarded.This role is best suited to someone who has a passion for driving change and improving governance processes in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.Our Diversity CommitmentAlinta Energy offers a truly diverse, safe and supportive work environment.
