Job Description

The office of Senator Susan McDonald invites applications for the full-time ongoing position of Diary Manager (Electorate Officer A) based in the Senators Office in Townsville, QLD.The position will suit a highly motivated and organised self-starter with experience in office administration, who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to:Manage the Senators diary, including all travel and other logistics;Manage and assist with front desk reception, inbound telephone calls, invitations and correspondence;Working alongside Senator McDonald and the Office Manager to manage diary and appointments, and act as first point of contact for constituent and stakeholder meetings;Maintenance of contacts database;Liaison with other Shadow Ministerial, Senators and Members offices, federal and state secretariats;Event coordination; andOther duties as directed by the Senator.The role may require occasional domestic travel.The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:Strong organisation and time management skills;Outstanding interpersonal skills;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Highly focused attention to detail and thorough record-keeping;Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities;Capacity to learn quickly and to remain agile in undertaking work; andWell-developed office IT skills.Previous experience in an electorate office is preferred but not essential, as will be any office management experience. An interest in Australias system of government and parliamentary processes would also be a desirable attribute.Employment conditions:The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:A commencing salary of $76,022.An optional allowance up to $20,132 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.An employer contribution of 15.4% superannuation will be payable.A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.Applications setting out details of experience, a short covering letter, and the names of two referees should be forwarded to: joanne.martel@aph.gov.au (who may also be contacted for further information).Applications close on Wednesday 26 February 2025. #J-18808-Ljbffr
