This is a fixed-term contract role ending on 31st December 2025.In this role, you will provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for young people who have experienced domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and complex trauma. This role is embedded within Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI), a youth service in Cairns, ensuring accessibility of support services for young people who may not typically seek help from domestic violence organisations.Responsibilities include:Providing crisis intervention, safety planning, and case management for young people experiencing domestic and family violence who are at risk but may not seek traditional DV services.Offering trauma-informed emotional support and counselling to young people with complex needs.Advocating for young people in relation to legal, housing, and safety concerns.Collaborating with YETI and key stakeholders to maintain service integration and professional boundaries.Maintaining accurate client records, case notes, and reports in accordance with CRDVS policies and funding requirements.What You''ll Bring to the Team:To qualify, you will need a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field. A minimum of 12 years'' experience working with young people in domestic and family violence, or trauma-informed care settings is also essential.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Additional qualifications or training in domestic and family violence (DV), trauma-informed care, or crisis intervention.Experience working with diverse populations, particularly Indigenous young people.Strong understanding of domestic violence dynamics, youth trauma, and crisis intervention strategies.Knowledge of youth development, mental health, substance misuse (AOD), and legal/statutory systems impacting young people.Experience working in an embedded worker role is beneficial but not mandatory.As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong crisis intervention skills, resilience, and the ability to work autonomously while maintaining professional boundaries.
