Early Childhood Teacher (Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten)The Hutchins School, established in 1846, is an Anglican Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school in Hobart, Tasmania. We are an Anglican school whose supportive learning community works together to nurture humility, kindness, courage and respect.About the roleWe are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Early Childhood Teacher to join our Pre-Kindergarten team on a fixed-term contract for term 2 and term 3, 2025. The Early Childhood Teacher will support learning and development by providing inviting play spaces and materials both indoors and outdoors that children find engaging, stimulating and that spark curiosity and inquiry.This position is a fixed term, part-time (0.6 FTE) parental leave cover for term 2 and 3, with the possibility for extension.To be successful in this role you will:be a teacher, with ACECQA Early Childhood Education and Care program approval, registered to teach or eligible to teach, within the State of Tasmania;have demonstrated experience of observing and assessing children (ages 3-5);possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills and work effectively in a team environment;have demonstrated knowledge of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework;have the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with other staff members;possess a high level of ICT competency and an ability to adapt to emerging technologies;a current First Aid certificate, CPR certificate and training in asthma and anaphylaxis management is desirable;experience working in a Childrens Services or Early Learning Centre environment is desirable.Key accountabilitiesPlan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum consistent within the Early Years Learning Framework.Design an inquiry style, play based learning environment that promotes curiosity, hands on exploration, problem solving, creativity and is a model for positive social relationships.Conduct observations of each child on a regular basis to document each childs developmental growth.Work collegially with Kindergarten teachers and staff within the Early Learning Centre.Maintain positive and open relationships with families.Maintain appropriate student learning documentation using online continuous reporting.Conduct Family/Teacher Conferences, and Student Led Conferences in line with the Junior School.Complete written reports based on the Early Years Learning Framework in line with the Junior School Report timelines.Contribute to the development of a professional and supportive school culture including attending briefings, meetings, professional development sessions and associated activities.To applyPlease submit a cover letter (2 page maximum) and a copy of your resume.
