Job Description

We are looking for a semi-retired, skilled machinist to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have experience operating manual lathes and machining tie rods and shafts. This role offers flexibility, working 2 or 3 times a week, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to stay engaged with hands-on work while maintaining a balanced schedule. The position requires an individual who can work independently and efficiently, maintaining the high standards of quality we uphold at Motivact.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate Manual Lathes: Use our manual lathes to machine tie rods, shafts, and other components as per specifications.Ensure Precision and Quality: Adhere to strict tolerance and quality standards in every project, inspecting workpieces as they are completed to ensure they meet company requirements.Maintain Equipment: Ensure that the manual lathes are kept in good working order, reporting any maintenance needs or issues to the Operations Manager.Work with Minimal Supervision: Collaborate with the production team to determine machining requirements but work independently for the majority of tasks.Timely Production: Meet deadlines for machining tasks, ensuring parts are ready for further assembly or delivery.Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing required PPE and ensuring equipment is used properly.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time tracking and any adjustments made to designs or specifications.Skills & QualificationsExperience in Manual Machining: Minimum of 10 years operating manual lathes, with a strong background in machining tie rods, shafts, and similar components.Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision to meet quality standards.Independent Worker: Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, following established processes and maintaining productivity.Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices and willingness to adhere to safety protocols.Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve any machining issues that may arise during the process.Good Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with the production team and report issues or progress as needed.Desirable AttributesSemi-Retired: This role is ideal for someone who is semi-retired and looking to work part-time with flexibility.Team-Oriented: While working independently, the individual should be able to collaborate when required and work as part of a team.Adaptable: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adjusting to changing priorities or project requirements.Working ConditionsHours: Flexible, 2 to 3 days a week (to be agreed upon with the Operations Manager).Work Environment: Workshop-based, with manual lathes and other machining tools.
