About The RoleIn this role, you will oversee and direct the Municipal Cleaning Team, ensuring the upkeep and improvement of public spaces while maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of public amenities in line with established standards. This role involves managing team operations, coordinating daily tasks, and working with key stakeholders to achieve organizational goals, all while promoting a positive and efficient team atmosphere. This position will suit an early bird, as the role requires 5am starts.Work type: Permanent full-timeClassification: Band 4 $69,560 - $74,316 pa plus superKey responsibilities include:Undertake municipal maintenance tasks in accordance with time frames.Be a team player and offer prompt guidance when the team requires.Be prompt, ensuring the team completes tasks on time and to required quality.Be proactive in communicating and guiding the team to resolve any problems on the job.Plan and roster work activities in a manner that efficiently uses Citys resources and avoids wastage.Check and maintain accurate records of the work completed, using correct cost centres, and forward the documentation to the supervisor on a weekly basis.Suggest ways to work better and support in implementing improvement recommendations.Ensure the team is cautious when at work to minimise risk and damage by following safety protocols.Display a positive personal contribution in the undertaking of daily duties in the Maintenance Unit.Work with the team to assist team members in completing projects consistent with job requirements.Operate and maintain plant and equipment in an effective and efficient manner and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and operational policies/procedures.Provide day-to-day supervision of manual cleaning operations within the Central Business District/Central Activities Area (CAA) and other high-profile areas within the Municipality.Be a principal employee performing mechanical footpath pavement sweeping in all high-profile shopping centres, including the Central Business District/CAA on a day-to-day basis.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in supervising a small team providing training/guidance in the use of specialist plant and equipment. You will also have:Current Victorian drivers licence (car).Several years of experience in working in outdoor fields involving municipal maintenance, particularly that of cleansing or related activities.Communication skills, with the ability to provide instructions and demonstrate basic writing and speaking skills.Ability to work to plan and manage time effectively.Experience in resolving work-specific problems or responding to new situations.Ability to train junior or new team members.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and provide effective leadership.Sound skills in operating and maintaining small street sweepers, footpath scrubbers, and miscellaneous small plant and equipment.Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).If this sounds like the role for you, then click apply now!Child Safety ResponsibilitiesWe are committed to being a child-safe organisation and have zero tolerance for child abuse.
