Located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES)Exciting opportunity to work as a research assistant for cancer immunotherapy and gut microbiota projectsBase Salary $86,511 - $96,863 (HEO5) + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is currently seeking a Research Assistant who will contribute to the development of research protocols and drive the execution of research activities.Our research group is focused on the role of the gut microbial community in intestinal disorders and cancer, and how diet and the microbiota can be leveraged to improve health outcomes. This role represents an exciting opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team using pre-clinical models of cancer to further investigate the impact of diet and the microbiota on cancer immunotherapy.Your key responsibilities will be to:Contribute to research activities relevant to the human gut microbiome, gut health, and cancer.Undertake experimental tasks, including murine studies, analysis of human biospecimens, and related techniques such as cell culture, molecular biology, and immunological methods.Provide research support such as sample collection, animal monitoring, reagent inventories, and ordering, and assist with ethics reporting and administration.Maintain high standards, research quality, and thorough records of research.Work as part of a team to prioritise tasks and meet research milestones.About youThe University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Research Assistant who has:A bachelor degree with honours, in science, biomedical science or a related field; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, and laboratory research experience.Experience working with murine models related to cancer, immunology, or similar in a research setting.Experience working in a PC2 biomedical research laboratory, undertaking tasks such as cell culture, molecular biology, and flow cytometry.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, as well as independently.The ability to accurately record, analyse, and present experimental data.Experience with laboratory/research administration tasks.Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
