Resource Safety & Health Queensland''s (RSHQ) Serious Incident Investigation Unit (SIIU) is seeking a Mackay or Rockhampton based Senior Investigator with extensive experience conducting and leading investigations, preparing briefs of evidence and giving evidence.The SIIU is responsible for conducting investigations into safety incidents in the mining, quarrying, explosives, and petroleum and gas resource sectors.As a member of the SIIU, you can expect to be challenged with interesting and rewarding work aimed at regulating the resources sector and protecting the safety and health of its workers.Reporting to a Principal Investigator, you will attend serious incidents and conduct complex investigations, performing functions under legislation regulated by RSHQ, including:Obtaining witness statementsConducting interviews, both voluntary and using compulsive powersCollecting evidence, including evidence obtained from incident scenesPreparing investigation reportsCompiling briefs of evidence for criminal, civil and administrative actionGiving evidence in Industrial, District and Coroners Courts.You will liaise closely with the RSHQ in-house legal team and the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor.You will be part of a statewide team of dedicated investigators who will, with their range of experience, support you to achieve results.Based in Mackay or Rockhampton, there will be some opportunity to work flexibly, depending on operational requirements. At times you will be required to travel to remote and challenging locations around Queensland to conduct investigations immediately after a serious incident, as well as undertaking follow-up enquiries to progress those investigations. As a result, you may be away from the office and your home for multiple days at a time.While experience in the resources sector would be advantageous, more important will be your:Extensive experience and qualifications as an investigatorAbility to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholdersCommitment to being part of a team.The role provides for an out of hours allowance and ongoing training opportunities.The role will be based in Mackay or Rockhampton with no opportunity to be based at any other alternative location.The role description will outline any qualifications, licences and specific requirements of the role.
