Aboriginal and Islander Education OfficerBranch: Avonvale Primary SchoolDivision: Wheatbelt Education RegionSalary: Level 3, $35.78 - $37.37 per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2023)This is a 5 month fixed term, part-time (0.3 FTE) position commencing as soon as possible.Avonvale Primary School (PS) is a small community-based school committed to providing enriched learning opportunities for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are implementing the Berry Street Education Model and support our staff with quality professional learning.The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our Aboriginal students. As a liaison between the school and community, the AIEO works closely with teachers, students, and families to develop culturally relevant educational programs that empower our Aboriginal students to reach their full potential.With a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and history, the AIEO promotes respect, understanding, and harmony within the school community. Through mentoring and pastoral care, the AIEO provides support and guidance to Aboriginal students to encourage participation and achievement in the classroom.While the role is focused on inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, it also involves general tasks such as administrative duties, guiding students in developing life skills, managing classroom resources, and assisting with behaviour management plans for at-risk students.Minimum Requirements:Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department''s Screening Unit.Application Instructions:Apply online in two easy steps:Select Apply for Job: Complete the online application form, including details of two (2) work-related referees, preferably one (1) being your current line manager.Your application should include:A CV of up to two (2) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position.A two (2) page statement addressing the selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF.It is recommended you have your attachments ready before selecting Apply for Job.
