Job Description

Northern Beaches Hospital seeks an operational leader to join the senior nursing team. The Hospital Coordinator works as the most senior manager on-site during the after-hours period and is responsible for the operational management of the organisation on behalf of the Hospital Executive on call.You will be responsible for leading patient flow, providing safe staffing, clinical and non-clinical emergency response and being a point of escalation for all matters that arise in the after-hours period.You will be a leader with experience in managing people and operations. In addition, you will be a lateral thinker with the ability to reassess and make safe decisions continually. Your leadership skills will be firmly established, allowing you to work with a positive, solutions-focused approach.As a Hospital Coordinator you will:Proactively manage the hospital bed base, safely adjusting staffing and resources to match patient activity.Allocate patients requiring admission to the hospital into a safe and appropriate bed promptly.Work with the Emergency Department to maintain constant flow from the ED and monitor, support, and escalate all key performance indicators (ETP, ToC, Triage Benchmarks, LOS).Work closely with Allied health/ Medical and Nursing teams to expedite discharges to both Local health facilities and home.Review and manage staffing shortfalls, including roster shortfalls and unexpected leave.Respond and manage all clinical and non-clinical emergency code calls.Escalate serious matters or concerns to the hospital executive on call.Provide leadership to the whole facility in the after-hours period.Respond to clinical safety concerns and incidents, taking immediate action and escalating as appropriate.Essential Criteria:Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).Post Registration Certificate or above in a relevant specialty.Demonstrable management experience in an acute hospital.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Ability to work a rotating roster across the week.
