Job Description

Main Duties/ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and carry out setup of sites.Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.Cut / shape / lay stone in various styles (random / coursed) as below:Construct Dry Stone Walls using fieldstone. Prefer have large scale project experience from 100m to 2km walls.Construct Pillars / House Stone cladding and shape fieldstone.Sandstone / Basalt and Granite experience mandatory.Lay out wall patterns or foundations, using straight edge, rule, or staked lines.Mark reference points on construction materials.Shape, trim, face and cut different stone materials for preparatory to setting, using power saws, cutting equipment, and hand tools.Cut tile, stone, or other masonry materials.Set vertical and horizontal alignment of structures, using plumb bob, gauge line, and levels.Align masonry materials.Mix mortar or grout and pour or spread mortar or grout on various stone surfaces for slabs, stone, or foundations.Mix substances or compounds needed for work activities.Spread concrete or other aggregate mixtures.Apply mortar.Remove wedges, fill joints between stones, finish joints between stones, using a trowel, and smooth the mortar to an attractive finish, using a tuck pointer.Apply decorative masonry finishes.Set stone or marble in place, according to layout or pattern.Clean excess mortar or grout from surface of various stone or monument, using sponge, brush, water, or acid.Lay brick to build shells of chimneys and smokestacks or to line or reline existing fireplaces and similar installations.Replace broken or missing masonry units in walls or floors.Smooth, polish, and bevel surfaces, using hand tools and power tools.Drill holes in marble or ornamental stone and anchor brackets in holes.Repair cracked or chipped areas of stone or marble, using blowtorch and mastic, and remove rough or defective spots from concrete, using power grinder or chisel and hammer.Remove sections of stone, and guide stone onto foundation, using skids, hoist, or excavators.Dig trenches and footings for foundation of walls and pillars, using pick and shovel or earthworks equipment.QualificationsSKILLS & EXPERIENCEDiploma or Certificate IV in Business Administration or relevant experience.First aid certificate.Stonemasonry license or equivalent experience (not mandatory).Experience3 years experience in a similar role or industry locally or internationally. May have served an apprenticeship, vocational training or on the job experience.SkillsIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).Adequate verbal and written communication.Organised and able to meet deadlines.Performance GoalsComplete administration tasks on time.Ensure sites are clean and presentable at all times.Liaison with clients, suppliers and other employees professionally at all times. #J-18808-Ljbffr
