The business produces salt by solar evaporation and refines and packages a range of palletised salt products on site.The position suits a manufacturing professional who will manage salt field operations, site manufacturing and product supply to customers. The role will be hands on and require a high proportion of time spent in the manufacturing area of the business ensuring that output, quality, safety and efficiency targets are met. A background in a trade or an engineering or technical role would be beneficial.You will have a solid background in manufacturing across raw material procurement, scheduling, resource planning, manufacturing, warehousing and product despatch. The role involves supervising a team of permanent employees and utilising casual employees to meet production requirements.You will manage the scheduling of manufacturing and maintenance work to ensure that the plant is available to deliver product to plan. You will be proactively involved in managing contractors and quickly sorting out reliability issues.You will need to demonstrate important manufacturing related supervisory abilities including:Well developed organisational, problem solving and decision making skillsGood administration and organisational skills including computer based reportingExperience in establishing and improving manufacturing & other business systemsExperience with safety & environmental and quality management systemsA strong commitment to ensuring a safe working environmentIdeally you will have a good depth of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment within a medium size manufacturing company.
