This position is accountable for sound organisational leadership and guidance and is also directly responsible for managing the Executive and Civic Services team.The Head of Executive and Civic Services manages and works closely with the Executive and Civic Services team to plan, monitor, and review effective delivery of strategic project initiatives, Civic deliverables, Mayoral/Councillor support functions, and the operations of the Ballarat Town Hall.The Head of Executive and Civic Services collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team and across the organisation on various matters, including initiatives of the CEOs direct portfolio areas - Advocacy and Lobbying and Communication and Design.About YouWe are seeking a highly motivated and professional leader with experience in managing and leading teams in a diverse environment. The preferred candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders.Key Selection CriteriaTertiary qualifications in Business or a relevant discipline or lesser qualifications with extensive experience; management qualifications.Proven leadership experience with the ability to apply contemporary and appropriate development approaches and to manage, lead, and sustain a high-performing team.Demonstrated ability to negotiate, advise, liaise, and persuade to gain cooperation from stakeholders at a senior level, staff, and customers.Extensive experience in a chief executive advisory role dealing with complex confidential service requirements.Keen understanding of the complexities and scope of service in Local Government, familiarity with State and Federal Governments, and a detailed knowledge of government relations.Politically astute.Demonstrate a high level of communication, resilience, interpersonal, and public relations skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate others, and the capacity to deal with conflict and challenging behaviour.Ability to independently anticipate and identify problems and resolve complex issues, interpreting and providing strategic advice and issues assessments.Demonstrated experience with venue and events management.Experience in financial records and budget management, indicating sound financial literacy.To apply, click on the apply button and upload your cover letter, current resume, and a document addressing the selection criteria before the closing date, Monday 3 March 2025.ContactFor any additional questions, please contact Andrew Prestage, Executive Manager People and Culture at AndrewPrestage@ballarat.vic.gov.au or 0418119447.The City of Ballarat is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a safe and inclusive working environment that embraces and values diversity, flexibility, and child safety.
