We strive to deliver professional and accountable services whilst empowering our clients to find solutions and achieve their goals.The role: Practitioner - Counselling and Intervention ServiceWe are currently seeking a Practitioner to join our team based in Fraser Coast and working from our Hervey Bay and Maryborough locations on a permanent full-time basis. The purpose of this role is to provide high quality counselling and intervention services to a target group of children and young people as well as foster and kinship carers, parents, and other family members.Please note that some flexibility is needed in order to meet operational requirements. This is a multi-faceted role providing support in a high volume and high complex risk environments to our clients.Key Responsibilities:Provide non-clinical therapeutic support to children, young people, foster and kinship carers.Provide non-clinical, co-facilitation of group based activities along with basic intervention and support strategies as part of the client plan.Provide support and referrals as required and participate in case coordination and family conference meetings when needed.Assess risk and vulnerabilities that may impact upon the safety and health of clients.Develop and maintain current knowledge of the range of government and non-government services offered across the geographical areas as well as external programs and resources relevant to the effective provision of services.Demonstrate current knowledge of federal, state legislation and policy relevant to service delivery activities.Develop and maintain networks with key community partners and stakeholders.Provide safe, age appropriate, developmentally sound, evidence based work with children and young people as required and ensure a safe and supportive environment for them.Keep case records and files according to policies and standards, ensuring the maintenance of client records systems.Maintain appropriate use of organisational protocols for the tracking of high risk cases.Provide your manager with qualitative and quantitative data, activity/service reports for reporting to funding bodies.Participate in training relevant to child abuse, domestic violence and suicide prevention.Essential Requirements For The Role:Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, Human Services or Counselling degree.Three year degree with two years relevant experience ORAssociate Diploma or similar with relevant experience ORAttained through previous service, an equivalent level of experience to undertake the role.Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW or similar recognised professional association.An understanding of out-of-home care placements, supporting diverse and complex client needs including the specific needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, foster and kinship carers.Have a current Blue Card - or be eligible to apply.Have a current drivers licence.Provide a current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successfully pass one.Have working rights in Australia.Why Work for us?We offer a competitive remuneration on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award Level 5.
