The position works under the direction of the Food and Technology Learning Area Leader, using established routines, methods, and procedures.The primary focus is on food and equipment preparation for classes, the cleaning of the food preparation areas and equipment afterwards, stock ordering and maintenance, and supporting the Foods Technology teachers.Attendance requirement for this position is 17.5 hrs per week - 7.5hrs on Monday, and 5.0 hrs each on a Tuesday and Wednesday. The position reports to the Business Manager.ResponsibilitiesClass AssistancePrepare equipment and trays, tea towels, oven mitts, dishcloths for the commencement of classes.Use equipment in accordance with school procedures and manufacturers instructions.Clean stores, benches of food as soon as possible to ensure protection and freshness of food.Support staff and students by supplying equipment thats needed.Observe students and draw the attention of the teacher to issues where necessary.Ensure work areas, materials and equipment are maintained in a clean and ready to use condition.Duties with FoodUndertake administrative tasks associated with the ordering of food.Seek alternatives when food is not available.Collate staff orders, check, receipt and store all food on its arrival.Follow correct hygiene procedures when handling food.Support food Technology teachers with any extra food preparation the school may require.Launder tea towels, dishcloths etc.Duties with cleanlinessLaunder tea towels, dishcloths etc.Launder Sportswear as required.Maintain benches, sinks, fridges, cupboards, wall tiles, ovens, grillers and stovetops in a hygienic condition at all times.Ensure adequate cleaning supplies are available.Clean dishes as required, mostly during practical classes.Use equipment in accordance with Geelong High School procedures and manufacturers instructions.General DutiesPrepare inventories and maintain and update basic written record.Assist in the identification of own training needs.Participate in team meetings when required.End of Term and AnnualClean and clear refrigerator and freezers as far as possible.Check all items from cupboards and drawers for cleanliness. Clean cupboards and drawers if necessary.Clean food storerooms, all shelves and cupboards, sweeping and mopping floors.Make adequate provision against dust, insects and rodents.Conduct annual stock take and cleaning procedures.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Child Safe StandardsVictorian government schools are child safe environments.
