We are seeking a talented and motivated Level A Research-Only Academic to join the Jaffr Group, where we are at the forefront of researching congenital heart defects and cardiomyopathies in children with rare genetic disorders.About Us: The Jaffr Group specialises in understanding the molecular mechanisms behind heart defects and cardiomyopathies using cutting-edge technologies such as human induced-pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), CRISPR gene editing, 3D organoids, and engineered heart tissues. Our goal is to uncover new therapeutic approaches for children with rare genetic conditions.As a Level A Research-Only Academic, you will contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment, working closely with the Principal Investigator and fellow researchers to drive exciting scientific projects forward. This is an opportunity to work with groundbreaking research and make a real-world impact on the health of children affected by rare genetic disorders.Key Responsibilities:Conduct independent research or as part of a team on projects related to stem cells, cardiogenesis, and cardiovascular biologyContribute to publications, conferences, and seminar papers showcasing your findingsUse advanced laboratory and technical equipment to design and perform experimentsDevelop and refine new research techniques, contributing to the group''s expertiseProvide supervision to 1-2 staff members and offer research advice to postgraduate studentsOccasionally contribute to teaching activities related to your research project(s)Engage in departmental meetings, conferences, and professional development activitiesThe Successful Candidate will have the following:A strong background in molecular biology, cardiology, stem cell biology, or related fieldsExperience in experimental design and working with complex laboratory techniquesExperience in hiPSC culture and differentiation along with genome editing (CRISPR) technology in hiPSCsThis position offers a unique chance to shape the future of paediatric cardiovascular medicine through pioneering research.
