Job Description

The Shift Corp is looking for an Operations Manager Events to lead the operational delivery of our events, with a primary focus (approx. 3 days) on The Bloody Long Walk (BLW) series. This role is key in ensuring seamless planning and delivery, optimising supplier relationships, managing budgets, and building high-performing event teams.We need someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy, with a strong network of Australian event suppliers and a proactive approach to improving operational processes. This role is part-time (4 days per week) and preferably Sydney-based, with an expectation of 30% office time to foster collaboration with the team.There will also be opportunities to work on additional projects throughout the year as part of The Shift Corps expanding event portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the operational delivery of The Bloody Long Walk (BLW) and other assigned events, overseeing:Traffic management, security, infrastructure, branding, freight & logistics, and staffing.Procurement of event materials, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.Risk assessments, scheduling, and operational documentation.Strengthen and expand supplier relationships to ensure reliable, high-quality event services.Encourage suppliers to join Wingman, increasing supplier membership and engagement.Plan ahead for peak periods by securing the best suppliers and resources in advance.Team Management & RecruitmentRecruit and manage on-site event teams via the Wingman platform, ensuring the right talent is assigned to each project.Build a strong network of casual and contract event specialists to streamline staffing across all events.Provide clear leadership, communication, and training to ensure teams perform efficiently.Technology & Process ImprovementComfortable with event technology: Use digital tools to enhance event planning, supplier management, and on-site operations.Improve operational workflows and processes to increase efficiency.Assist in developing The Shift Corps Learning Management System (LMS) for event training and best practices.Budget & Financial ManagementManage and track event budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.Identify cost-saving opportunities by negotiating with suppliers and refining operational planning.Provide budget updates and financial insights to the Account Director and Project Managers.Sustainability & ComplianceEnsure all events align with at least two UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Implement eco-friendly event strategies and encourage sustainable supplier practices.Ensure compliance with safety regulations, risk management protocols, and industry standards.Conduct comprehensive post-event reviews, documenting successes and identifying areas for improvement.Maintain supplier performance records and operational insights to refine future projects.Key Skills & Experience15+ years experience in event operations, logistics, or production management.Strong network of Australian event suppliers and experience in supplier negotiation.Tech-savvy, comfortable using event management platforms and digital tools.Excellent budgeting skills, with the ability to track and optimise event spend.Exceptional planning skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and manage multiple projects.Leadership experience, with a proven ability to recruit, train, and manage on-site teams.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive mindset.Commitment to sustainability and innovation in event delivery.Salary: $90,000 $100,000 + Super (pro-rata on 4 days).Flexibility: Hybrid work model, with 25% office-based time in Sydney.Professional Growth: Opportunity to expand Wingmans supplier membership, enhance processes, and take on additional projects within The Shift Corps growing portfolio.APPLICATIONS CLOSE 12pm Friday 21st February.
