Swickers is the largest Australian owned pork processor and continues to be a market leader in pork production.What we offerBy joining us, you will join a team passionate about producing the best quality Aussie pork for Aussie plates.At Swickers we provide:Full time, competitive salaried rolesThe opportunityThe Afternoon Shift WHS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the workplace health and safety functions during the afternoon shift at Swickers Kingaroy, ensuring that all safety procedures and protocols are strictly adhered to. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can effectively handle emergency situations, conduct regular safety inspections, and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.The afternoon shift WHS Coordinator plays a key role in mitigating workplace risks and supporting the continuous improvement of safety culture during non-standard working hours.Duties and Responsibilities include:Occupational First AidDeliver comprehensive occupational first aid services on-site, ensuring prompt and effective response to medical emergencies, injuries, or health incidents. This includes assessing the condition of injured or ill individuals, administering immediate care, stabilising patients, and facilitating appropriate medical referrals or transportation as needed.Mental Health First AidProviding initial support and assistance to individuals experiencing mental health crises or emotional distress in the workplace. This includes identifying signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, offering a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, and ensuring a safe environment for individuals in need of help.Drug and Alcohol TestingAccountable for overseeing and directing drug and alcohol testing programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This includes conducting pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion testing in accordance with industry regulations and company policies.Ensure ComplianceRegularly review and update first aid procedures, equipment, and training in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the associated Code of Practice "First Aid in the Workplace." Assist in the return-to-work coordination in consultation with the health and safety team.Deputy Chief WardenAccountable for overseeing and directing the implementation of emergency procedures for the site, ensuring a swift and organised response to any emergency. This includes the strategic coordination of building evacuations, ensuring all personnel are safely accounted for, and managing communication throughout the process. Additionally, responsible for routinely inspecting and verifying the availability and functionality of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency exits, and alarms, specific to the area. Ensures that all emergency protocols are in compliance with safety regulations and that personnel are adequately trained and prepared for any potential incidents.Record Keeping and ReportingMaintain accurate records of first aid kit inventories, inspections, and usage. Report any deficiencies or incidents that require first aid assistance, ensuring all records comply with workplace health and safety protocols.Risk Assessment and ImprovementCollaborate with relevant teams to identify potential workplace hazards and implement improvements in first aid procedures and equipment based on risk assessments and incident reports.Compliance AuditsConduct periodic audits to ensure ongoing adherence to legislative requirements and workplace safety standards related to first aid, taking corrective actions where necessary.Conduct routine inspections and servicing of first aid kits and equipment to ensure all supplies are current, adequately stocked, and meet the required standards. Replace expired or used items promptly.Assist in the development and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programs, focusing on minimising workplace risks and enhancing safety culture.Communication and Collaboration:Collaborate with other shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers to ensure consistency in safety practices across all shifts.Collaborate with the day shift WHS Manager and Advisors and management team to ensure smooth handover of safety-related information between shifts.What were looking forSwickers has established an efficient, highly skilled yet diversified team. Skills and Experience:A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a health and safety coordination role, preferably in an afternoon shift or 24-hour operational environment.Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and best practices.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in emergency situations.Effective communication skills with the ability to train and engage staff on safety matters.Detail-oriented with the ability to perform regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.Safety Management Software experience desirable (preferably Viking).Sound understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Emails).Able to demonstrate proficiency in communication with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport with a wide variety of people.Exceptional organisational skills, multi-task, and work to deadlines.Cert IV Work Health and Safety (desirable or willing to obtain)Occupational First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation (desirable or willing to obtain)Collect Specimens for drugs of abuse.Rehabilitation and Return-to-Work.Drivers LicenceSunPork is an equal opportunity employer.
