Protective Security Officer DCS Clerk Grade7/8 starting from $110,266 - $122,058 plus superannuation and leave loading 1x ongoing opportunity Sydney, Gosford, Bathurst or Tweed Heads Hybrid working options available and all flexible working arrangements considered including part-time, part-year and job-share. An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for a Protective Security Officer to join the NSW Telco Authority, a rapidly growing part of Digital NSW within the Department of Customer Service. This role supports security processes and operations for NSW Telco Authority across multiple, geographically dispersed sites within NSW. The position also contributes to the identification, prioritisation and management of security risks to prevent harm to official resources, information, and disruption to business objectives, and to embed effective protective security policies and practices across the organisation. You will be joining a friendly, fast-paced, dynamic and diverse team who is passionate about keeping people and places safe. The role sits within the Protective Security Unit of NSW Telco Authority. In this role you will: Contribute to the accurate reporting of security incidents and the conduct of post incident reviews, including site specific / threat specific security risk assessments to support the capturing of lessons learnt, and to provide timely recommendations on the adaptation of policies and procedures to support risk minimisation strategies, reduce harm and prevent incident re-occurrence. Conduct security risk assessments and recommend controls to mitigate identified risks. Support operational and technical aspects of security operations, including incident management, breaches and investigations and recommend appropriate application of protective security measures to ensure the operational environment necessary for the confident and secure conduct of the Authoritys business operation. Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of an appropriate environment to secure and protect assets from loss or misuse and support the continued delivery of the Authoritys essential business. Contribute to the prioritisation and management of security risks to prevent harm to official resources and disruption to business objectives and create effective protective security and business continuity management plans. Maintain effective relationships with approved contractors, key internal and external stakeholders and other business partners to deliver security related preventative and reactive maintenance and other related services. Analyse, assess, and provide feedback on the efficacy of security procedures and security responses within business units to identify opportunities for improvement. Remain current with security legislation and support the transfer of knowledge to the team and stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislative obligations and to embed protective security as an integral part of the Authoritys culture through training, awareness and support. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Experience and knowledge in protective security, incident management, intelligence or a related field. A sound understanding of security risk management principles and methodology. Familiarity with the Protective Security Policy Framework. The ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance (information on security clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website).
