In this role, you will be working with a team that feels empowered and challenged while fostering an emphasis on work/life balance.Your Opportunity:Tenterfield Shire Council is looking for a full-time Manager Assets & Program Planning based in Tenterfield, NSW.Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, this role is responsible for leading and managing Councils infrastructure and asset planning to improve service delivery, extend asset lifespan, and minimise risks associated with asset failure.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Developing and implementing asset and fleet management policies, strategies, and guidelinesManaging Councils infrastructure assets, including roads, bridges, stormwater drainage, fleet, and buildingsOverseeing the development of operational, capital, and maintenance works programs and budgetsIdentifying, applying for, and managing grant funding opportunities for asset projectsEstablishing and undertaking asset inspections and condition assessmentsDeveloping project management frameworks for infrastructure projects, including planning, approvals, and land acquisitionsReviewing and updating Councils Risk Register and intervention programsManaging rural addressing, road access applications, and community event road closuresEnsuring effective operation of the Fleet and Assets Section, monitoring performance, and optimising resource allocationLeading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team to foster collaboration and continuous improvementPromoting and enforcing workplace health and safety policies and maintaining a respectful and inclusive work environmentActing as the Director of Infrastructure in their absence as requiredTo qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent and demonstrated experience in asset management, engineering, budgeting, and project planning and management. Strong project management skills and experience in the design and delivery of full project life cycles in roads, bridges, and other asset classes will also be essential.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Demonstrated ability to lead a team of employees and consultants to deliver value-adding asset management and engineering outcomesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective report writing and the ability to simplify technical issuesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, as well as MapInfo, Intramaps, or similar mapping systemsThorough knowledge and understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Work Health & Safety (WHS) principles and their application in the workplaceAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong leadership and strategic planning abilities, with the capability to oversee multiple asset projects while ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
