Saltbush is looking for a dedicated and culturally aware Tutor to help guide individuals facing these challenges through the use of creative art mediums.Position DetailsLocation: DarwinEmployment Type: Part-time Fixed Term until 31 December 2027Excellent Remuneration: $90k pro rata + 11.5% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leaveReports To: Skills, Education and Employment (SEE) Management TeamHours: Four days per week (30.4 hours per week), with flexibility for additional hours as neededTravel: Travel to regional locations where Saltbush operates may arise and will be planned with agreement in advance.About Saltbush: Saltbush Social Enterprises is a place where stories of strength and resilience come together. Our mission is to uplift and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through meaningful employment and community-driven programs.The Role: The SEE Senior Art Tutor is responsible for developing and delivering a creative arts program in collaboration with our Trainer. The position goals are to expose the participants to a range of creative mediums including Aboriginal art practices whilst ensuring the program includes Literacy, Language, Numeracy and Digital skills that align with the SEE Training plan.This role requires an understanding of the multiple and complex barriers many people face working with a selection of individuals. Your actions will always be culturally appropriate, respectful and collaborative.Your Journey With UsTo ensure success in your role as a SEE Senior Tutor, you will:Develop and deliver art lessons that align with Trainers Literacy, Language, Numeracy and Digital learning goalsProvide guidance to the SEE Art TutorProvide materials lists well in advance of art sessions to ensure all participant needs are met and the project runs smoothlyTeach students about various art techniques, styles and mediums, including but not limited to Aboriginal art techniquesEncourage creativity and self-expression through art projects and provide constructive feedbackCollaborate with team members to ensure project goals are metEnsure a physically safe work environment including PPE equipment is worn where necessaryShare knowledge and up to date information with participants regarding the Arts Sector, Arts Careers and the pathways to theseActively engage with Arts Organisations with a view to showing participant work and encouraging participant engagement with organisations and galleriesSupport participants to exhibit where appropriateOrganise materials and storage areas ensuring appropriate supply and materials management and instruct participants care of materials and toolsEnsure all activities are culturally safe for participantsMaintain accurate participant records including attendance recordsWhat You BringDemonstrated experience working in the Arts Sector with Aboriginal peopleStrong knowledge of the current Arts SectorAbility to lesson plan and deliver engaging art lessons with a focus on Aboriginal art techniques as well as a range of engaging art techniquesExcellent communication and literacy skills including capacity to building in literacy, numeracy and technology into lessonsExperience integrating technology into art practiceExperience collaborating as part of a team to support student learningDesirable CriteriaRelationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with individuals with complex needs while maintaining confidentiality.Active Listening: Skills in listening attentively and providing appropriate feedback, ensuring mentees feel heard and valued.Adaptability: Ability to adjust approaches and methods to meet the varying needs of mentees and respond to different situations effectively.Motivational Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate mentees to set and achieve their personal and professional goals.Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records and documentation.Relevant Certification: In Art Education or Art Therapy or similarArts interest: an interest in the arts, preferably in the Aboriginal arts sectorWhy Youll Love It HereCommunity Impact: Be part of a team that makes real change, helping our people find their way to stable, fulfilling work.Growth and Support: Were here to help you grow too, with opportunities for professional development and a supportive work environment.Supportive Environment: We understand the importance of balance and wellbeing.
