In this role, you will help them design, build, and implement a Modern Data Architecture platform from scratch, establish a strong DataOps practice, and collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders. It''s a unique opportunity to make your mark in one of Australia''s leading industries.This is a great opportunity to join a privately owned family company that is well-established and financially healthy, a well-known brand across four continents!The RoleAs the Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with state, regional, and national teams, being accountable for supporting internal stakeholders regarding data quality, improvement, and efficiency, from operational to head office. With your resilience and drive, you can help shape that journey.Core Responsibilities:Implement, operationalize and manage the target state Data Engineering Platform.Design, build, test, and maintain robust, reliable and scalable data pipelines.Combine data from various sources and technologies to create a unified and scalable data ecosystem, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and accessible.Design, implement and optimize databases for performance, integrity, and security.Implement processes to validate, cleanse data and perform regular audits to maintain data quality.Work with ICT and business teams to understand business needs and requirements to deliver effective, efficient and robust data solutions.Key Requirements:A Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.Extensive hands-on experience in managing and optimizing data platform solutions.Proficient in key Microsoft and open-source technologies that underpin modern Lakehouse architectures, including Medallion architecture, Delta Lake, Data Lake/OneLake, Apache Spark, Data Factory, and Azure Synapse.Extensive experience in designing and deploying scalable, robust data pipelines that ensure efficient data flow and processing, including ETL and ELT processes.Proficient in Python, PySpark, Scala, and T-SQL programming languages.Experience with Notebooks, CI/CD, GitHub/Git.Proven experience overseeing and operationalizing the entire data lifecycle.Expertise in SQL and database technologies (e.g., MS SQL).Experience working in an agile environment supported by DataOps / DevOps practices and principles.Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus.A self-driven influencer, a critical thinker with a personable and analytical approach.You are comfortable working in an operational environment, alternating between various projects across a dynamic business and its stakeholders.Why You?This is a wonderful opportunity to join a close-knit team with a positive, professional, and mature culture nurtured by exceptional leaders where the business supports your growth, development, and success.This well-established, stable, and growing business offers a great culture.
