Our Unanderra head office and manufacturing complex is located an hour south of Sydney. An opportunity exists for a team-focused, driven and hardworking individual to join our team to manage the day-to-day production activities of the Engineering Toolroom.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will:Coordinate, manage and schedule manufacturing activities from a variety of internal stakeholders, including Design and Development (prototypes), Production (small-batch component machining) & Operations (equipment maintenance and repair).Supervise the day-to-day operation of the Toolroom team, including managing performance, attendance and leave and the mentoring of junior tradespeople and apprentices.Manage and support the implementation of continuous improvement within the Toolroom, including the procurement of equipment and resources.Stay up to date with knowledge regarding Toolroom best practices, regulatory requirements and standards and implement changes as appropriate.Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.Supervising a small team, the successful applicant should:Have trade qualifications in fitting/machining/toolmaking and be competent at milling, turning and grinding activities in a workshop environment. Demonstrated CNC/CAM experience is a must, CAD experience desirable.Have experience with one offs with close tolerances along with small production runs.Be able to work in a small team environment showing initiative and drive, including training and education of team members. Collaboration with peers to support design and R&D activities and improve capabilities are an integral part of the role.Be autonomous and self-guided in the approach of problem solving for process maintenance and assistance, capable of working on and understanding a wide range of custom machinery and press tools. Self-driven improvement to product and processes are highly desirable, supported by proven design skills.Be confident in liaising with internal and external clients, providing technical support as necessary.Be confident working on varying types of work such as prototyping, maintenance and small production.Be driven by a quality-first approach.Be confident participating in the innovation of high security mechanical locking products and their associated production processes.Australian Lock Company uses Autodesk Inventor CAM, ESPRIT CAM, EdgeCAM software packages.If this role sounds interesting and you believe you have the experience necessary to excel in this position, please submit your resume, along with a cover letter to hr@australianlock.com.au by Tuesday 25th February 2025.
