Pilot HelicopterTemporary full-time role from 8 May to 30 October 2025 with possibility to extend to December 2026Located at BankstownSalary relative to experience, and ranges from $126,623 to $160,215 plus employers contribution to superannuation and annual leave loadingDo you want your work to make a difference for NSW?Working to protect the states environment and heritage.About the roleNational Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Pilot Helicopter to work as part of the close-knit team based at Bankstown and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.You will transport people and equipment and provide support to specific field operations of the DCCEEW (for example water bucketing, aerial incendiary work, aerial shooting, Aerial Application, observation and external load operations).You will conduct safety checks on the aircraft and perform minor maintenance, helping to organise maintenance and repairs as approved by the Chief Pilot in accordance with the manufacturers specifications and CASA orders and regulations. The role may also be required to pilot helicopters to support the operation of other government agencies, as approved.About YouPrior experience in a similar role.Because the role operates in remote locations, it is essential to possess skills and abilities to solve problems. All decisions in relation to flying operations will need to be made in accordance with CASA orders and regulations, navigational issues, operating conditions and within the capabilities of the aircraft.Essential RequirementsA Commercial Helicopter Pilots Licence and a minimum of 2000 hours total Rotary wing flying experience with the following minimums;- 1000 hours Turbine helicopter experience- 500 hours Low flying experience- Night VFR and Sling Endorsement.Knowledge of Air Operations in relation to fire management and mitigation as well as the ability to gain the essential requirements to undertake this role.Experience and demonstrated ability in helicopter longline operations (100ft+)An in-depth knowledge and experience in airwork operations that effect the agency.Highly developed aviation skills particularly in remote terrain.
