About the roleBarwon Security Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Security Technician to join our team in Geelong, Victoria. This full-time role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems, ensuring our clients'' properties and assets are protected.What you''ll be doingInstall, configure, and test a variety of security systems, including CCTV, access control and alarm systems, specifically Hills, Bosch, Tecom, Dahua and Hikvision.Perform regular maintenance and repairs on existing security equipment.Respond to emergency callouts and troubleshoot issues promptly.Maintain detailed records and documentation of all work performed.Provide excellent customer service and technical support to our clients.Collaborate with the broader security team to ensure the efficient operation of all systems.What we''re looking forTechnical Skills and KnowledgeProficiency in Security Systems: Proven experience with a wide range of security systems, including CCTV, alarms, access control systems, intercom systems including keyless entry, and IP networking. Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies and systems.Troubleshooting Ability: Strong technical skills and understanding of security system components and technologies.Knowledge of Networking: Understanding IP-based security devices and networking principles (such as routers, switches, and firewalls)Familiarity with Security Software: Comfort with security management software and platforms used for monitoring, configuring, and reporting on security devices.Certifications: Industry certifications such as Security Licence, Construction Card, WWCC, Cabling Licence and manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Bosch, Integrity)Valid Drivers License: Our security technicians are required to travel to client sites, so a clean driving record and the ability to travel long distances are important.Flexibility: The ability to handle various types of security systems across different environments, such as commercial, residential, or industrial.Flexible Hours: On the odd occasion, you may need to travel for jobs or work away for a short period of time or respond to emergency service calls.Attention to DetailAccuracy in Installation: The ability to follow plans or system schematics precisely, ensuring that all components are installed correctly and function as intended. Attention to detail and thoroughness with all installations.Problem-Solving and Critical ThinkingAnalytical Skills: The ability to think on your feet and solve problems effectively, especially when dealing with malfunctioning equipment or unforeseen issues during installations or repairs. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills required.Ability to Assess Risks: Evaluating security needs based on the client''s unique situation and recommending the right solutions. Strong communication and customer service skills a must.Communication SkillsClear Communication: Ability to explain technical issues and solutions to clients in an understandable way.Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills, to interact with clients and team members. This includes being polite, professional, and approachable.Documentation Skills: Ability to write clear service reports, system logs, and maintenance documentation, ensuring that all work is tracked.Reliability and TrustworthinessDependability: Security technicians often work independently or in small teams, so the need to be reliable in both attendance and the ability to complete tasks on time is required.
