We offer crisis accommodation and housing services, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills and employment programs, cultural support and community engagement, among other services. We focus on early interventions that empower young people and strengthen communities.Not all children and young people thrive in mainstream schools. Our registered and accredited independent high schools offer a flexible alternative for students in Years 912.We operate six independent high schools that are registered and accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Youth Off The Streets is also a member of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW).Step Up Program provides the support and opportunities young people need to be defined by their potential not their circumstance. Students can attain their HSC, TAFE qualifications or work skills and experience. Step Up Program aims to provide them with greater choice in employment opportunities and the skills to make a valuable contribution to their community.About the roles:We are looking for a secondary trained Stage 6 Work Studies Teacher on a Part Time maximum term basis until the end of December 2025, this role will be part of our Step Up Program Team at Merrylands.Experience, Skills and Abilities:Ability to work with young people who have been marginalised in previous schools.An understanding of the principles that underpin a child safe organisation including mandatory child protection procedures.Demonstrated capacity to respect and work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people of diverse cultural backgrounds.Additional experience in outdoor recreation, performing arts, creative arts, sport, fitness or other extracurricular activities are desirable qualities.Requirements:The person we seek will ideally have the following:An accredited four-year undergraduate teaching degree.
