PYC Therapeutics is a drug-development company offering a new generation of RNA therapeutics to address unmet need in disease.We have world-leading RNA targeted therapeutics design capabilities which are supported by our revolutionary delivery technology based on Cell Penetrating Peptides (CPPs) to overcome the delivery challenge in genomic therapies.Our differentiated drug delivery capability and RNA drug design experts means we have the skills and means to discover and develop RNA-targeted therapeutics in a truly innovative way. We have two clinical programs for Inherited Retinal Diseases, and two preclinical programs, one for Polycystic Kidney Disease and the other for Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. We are harnessing a new generation of RNA-targeted therapeutics called PPMOs to develop precise and highly effective treatments for disease.Job Summary:We are currently seeking a full-time research assistant or research officer to assist in the progression of our RNA therapeutic assets towards the clinic.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in molecular techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR and Western Blot. Desirably, the candidate should also possess expertise in tissue culture, including sterile technique, maintaining cell lines and common cell-based assays.Critically, we are looking for a self-motivated, independent thinker with the ability to set and execute project plans that progress the strategic goals and vision of the company. You must be able to work both individually and as part of a team and be highly organised. You must demonstrate great attention to detail, be able to multi-task parallel projects whilst meeting stringent timelines.We are recruiting for a full-time position based in Perth, Western Australia. Only candidates with ongoing unrestricted rights to work in Australia need apply.Applications close: 18th February 2025Applications MUST include:A statement addressing the selection criteriaThe applicants curriculum vitaeThe contact details of two current referees.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science (Honours) in relevant discipline such as molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology or similar.Proficient in molecular techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, Western Blot, ELISA, and PCRs either RT-PCR or ddPCR.Excellent computer, data analysis, written and oral communication skills.Excellent analytical and organisational skills, and ability to maintain accurate research records (cloud-based).Ability to work both independently and productively within a dynamic team environment.Ability to deliver project objectives within time constraints.Commitment to high quality science through experimental planning, analysis and presentations.Experienced in tissue culture and aseptic techniques, including cell line maintenance and basic cell-based assays.Experience working with oligonucleotides or similar modalities to modulate RNA expression.Previous work involving flow cytometry.Experience working with rodent models, including tissue collection and processing.Consistent delivery on project objectives, with an understanding of how this contribution fits within the broader strategy and company objectives.Self-motivated, with the capability to meticulously plan work in advance.Duties will include:Work with the team to design and implement experiments that assess new technologies in the context of the delivery of PYCs RNA therapeutics platform.Perform general laboratory work including cell culture (cell lines, primary cells, patient cells), RNA and protein extraction, molecular based assays including RT-PCR, ddPCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry, and the development and execution of functional assays.Adhere to good laboratory practice, requirements under the Office of Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and associated laboratory safety laws.Maintain current knowledge of scientific literature relating to the project and conduct background research as required.Contribute, critique and present at internal company meetings.Assist with the preparation of publications and reports.Refine and optimise current lab protocols and write SOPs in collaboration with other team members, as required.Assist other team members with projects (demonstrate flexibility with regards to sharing skills across various projects).Analysis of data using statistical and database computer packages.Independent day to day planning of research activities.Assists program lead with the identification and implementation of solutions/methods/techniques that drive program outcomes.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionResearch, Analyst, and Information TechnologyIndustriesBiotechnology #J-18808-Ljbffr
