Candidates must disclose any information relevant to their eligibility to engage in activities involving children.About the RoleHours of workThis position is Part Time - Term Time, 30 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, rostered Monday Sunday to meet the operational demands. However, some flexibility will be required.Position ObjectiveTo produce and maintain high quality standards of food preparation and service within the controlled cost parameters. Assist with all catering within Brisbane Grammar School contributing to the overall performance of the department. Assisting to the general hygiene and cleanliness of the work area to meet the highest standards.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure that all aspects of the day-to-day operations are technically correct and within established guidelines.Commitment to produce product and service of the highest quality.To be professional and to get the job done effectively and efficiently.To follow established standards and be consistent at what we do.To communicate and present ourselves effectively.To actively contribute to a broad service to our customers, clients and school community.To follow food production for boarding, events and functions and actively contribute to menu design.To work cohesively and productively within your team.To be cost conscious.To regard health and safety of staff and visitors to the school as a priority.To attend meetings and participate in training programs when requested.Additional Information / Other Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform duties, also aid and undertake any duties within the role as directed by the Senior chef.Flexibility to work and meet the demands/needs of the catering department.Assist with the control of quality and quantity of goods purchased.Ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety are met.Willingness to learn more to improve job performance.Physical Requirements / Work EnvironmentFood production and handling.Meet all work demands and requirements.Punctuality.Strong knowledge of food procedures and processes.Ability to work within a diverse team environment.Health and Safety awareness of food service.Maintain good client and staff relationships.Ensuring correctly selected chemicals and methods are used for cleaning.Manage workflow demands and processes.Flexibility to workload and demands.Understanding of portion control measures, storage and handling and wastage.Desirable skills and attitudesWorked in several diverse food establishments.Proven track record, worked in restaurants and or hotel experience.Quality control of food standards, principles and technique.Stock control and labelling.Positive response to requests.Work with minimal supervision.Getting the Job done nothing is too much trouble attitude.Courteous and respectful towards each and everyone.Consistent, punctual, and reliable.Ability to follow instructions.Required Licenses / CertificationsA positive notice and a Blue Card through the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA).Chemical safety and handling.Workplace hygiene procedures.Occupational health and safety.Food Safety certification (Im Alert).Application ProcessWe welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, recognising the contributions they bring to our community.
