This talent pool will be used to fill a mixture of ongoing and temporary opportunities as they arise.The temporary role, at grade 9/10, is based in Sydney.About the role and talent pool.Senior Associates carry out complex policy work to guide policy directions, support service delivery reforms or major initiatives, and offer well-researched, informed options by identifying emerging issues that senior leaders can rely on for effective decision-making.We currently have a temporary opportunity in the Intergovernmental Relations team, which is in the Health, Education and Intergovernmental Branch of the Social Policy & Intergovernmental Relations Group within TCO. We are also seeking experienced policy professionals to join our Clerk Grade 9/10 Talent Pool for the Social Policy & Intergovernmental Relations Group to fill a mixture of ongoing and temporary roles as they arise over the next 18 months. We are likely to have policy roles arising in communities and justice policy areas and Women NSW, among others, and encourage those with expertise in those policy areas to apply.To learn more about the role please review the Role Description.About the Social Policy & Intergovernmental Relations GroupThe Social Policy & Intergovernmental Relations Group consists of two branches the Health, Education and Intergovernmental Branch and the Communities, Justice and National Security Branch. The Health, Education and Intergovernmental Branch covers health, education, early childhood policy, skills and disability reform, and leads engagement with the Commonwealth and States & Territories. The branch supports the Premier in his role at the National Cabinet driving NSW priorities nationally. The immediate temporary opportunity is working in the Intergovernmental Relations team. The Senior Associate will provide high-level advice to the Premier and The Cabinet Office executives on important social policy and intergovernmental relations issues to deliver outcomes for the people of NSW.The Communities, Justice and National Security Branch covers social policy issues including Policing, Attorney General, Family & Community Services and the Department of Customer Service portfolios. It is focused on the priorities within and across these portfolios to support improved social policy outcomes for communities and vulnerable people. It is likely that there will be future opportunities arising in the communities and justice team, with a particular focus on justice policy.You. Our ideal candidate.Youre eager to make a difference to the communities of NSW, are solutions-focused, work well under pressure, and can adapt to competing demands and changing priorities.You will have appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.You will have proven ability to take senior responsibility in leading a team, developing, coaching, and mentoring team members to achieve objectives related to public policy programs, state significant projects, and service delivery reform.You are experienced in developing, evaluating, and reporting on a range of approaches to support the Department in meeting its policy commitments and have strong ability to review Cabinet proposals and facilitate stakeholder consultations to assess the soundness and feasibility of initiatives.You will have strong critical thinking and analytical skills to prepare high-quality analysis on cross-portfolio and inter-governmental policy issues and the ability to ensure information is accurate, succinct, and effectively represents NSWs policy positions.You display stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills and have experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with other NSW and Commonwealth agencies, Ministers Offices, public sector bodies, private sector organisations, and key external stakeholders.You will possess the ability to conduct in-depth research into current and emerging trends, ensuring policy, service delivery reforms, or major initiatives are responsive to the current context.You are a strong project manager skilled in scoping, planning, stakeholder identification, resource allocation, and milestone reporting. You have experience in ensuring consistency with government objectives and effectively reporting on outcomes and evaluations.We know the value of diverse experiences.
