We are currently looking for a casual Catering Assistant (up to 20 hours per week) to join our Catering team. This is a 65% back of house, 35% front of house role, Monday-Friday.About usThe Law Society of New South Wales works with and for the NSW legal profession. We''re not all lawyers, but we work together to support the legal profession and ensure a just society for all.About the teamThe Catering team is responsible for providing catering services to the Law Society of NSW, which includes:Functions that include formal lunches for 10-50 clients, dinners for 12-100 clients and cocktail parties for 30-200 clients.Internal Meetings, Seminars & General Staff Catering; including breakfast meetings, morning & afternoon teas, sandwich lunches, working lunches, drinks meetings, espresso coffee and beverage service.Functions hosted by external Members or individual Clients at the Law Society, providing a fully licensed catering venue available for functions ranging from small meetings to 100 seat theatrettes.Foodie Feast Hampers, that are pre ordered hampers to be cooked, chilled, and dispatched over the space of 1 week.Daily Tuckshop orders.About the roleThe Catering Assistant will assist in the setup, preparation, execution, and clean-up of all in-house catering services including boardroom meetings, daily tuck shop orders, small evening committee meetings and functions.What you''ll be doingSetting up boardrooms ready for catering, delivery of catering, clean-up and resetting rooms.Assisting with basic food preparation such as making & portioning sandwich platters, making salads, reheating & plating canapes and some basic baking.Making coffees, taking payments and relaying tuck shop orders.Washing and cleaning of kitchen, coffee station, dining areas and boardrooms.Maintaining good and proper food hygiene and safety food practices.Assisting the broader team when and where needed.About youPrevious experience in food preparation, with Safe Food Handlers Certificate, and customer service required.Basic barista skills required with ongoing training offered.Responsible Service of Alcohol accredited.Good general knowledge and general enthusiasm for food & wine.National Police Check.Aware of and maintain hygienic food and beverage handling procedures.Able to work on a roster, including evening work where required.Motivated and able to work both autonomously and as part of a small and busy team.Ability to ensure excellent and professional customer service standards are maintained at all times.Use initiative and deal with changing and often conflicting priorities.Ability to perform manual handling tasks within WH&S guidelines.Computer literate and experience using MS Office Suite.Display a commitment to quality client service and values.Excellent personal presentation.To applyThe Law Society of New South Wales is committed to building and maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace, appointing the best person for the role and supporting diversity.Applications should contain a CV and cover letter that outlines your key experience and motivations for this role. #J-18808-Ljbffr
