We have a full-time position of Painting Trade Worker in Portsmith, QLD 4870.SKILL LEVELThe business requires the following qualifications and experience for the Painting Trade Worker:Hold at least an AQF (or equivalent) Certificate III; andHave at least 1 year experience (minimum of 35 hours per week).RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEWThe Painting Trades Worker will be responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing a variety of marine surfaces to ensure optimal protection and aesthetic quality.The role requires effective collaboration with the team and the ability to meet the unique demands of marine refit and repair projects, both at the Portsmith workshop and on-site at Cairns shipyards and marinas.REPORTS TOYou will be required to report to the Section Manager, the General Manager and the 2IC.POSITION DUTIESYou will need to undertake the following duties:Photographing customer goods before, during and at completion of works for the purpose of quality reporting uploading photographs to the Tradify app.Removing old paint, coatings, and corrosion using abrasive blasting, hand tools, and ultra-high-pressure water blasting.Repairing and preparing surfaces of marine vessels, including wood, metal, and composite materials, ensuring surfaces are clean, smooth, and ready for painting.Filling imperfections, cracks, and holes on internal linings (walls, ceilings, and floors) and other marine structures.Applying protective and decorative coatings, including paints, varnishes, and epoxy systems, using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment.Executing high-performance coatings for vessel preservation, ensuring compliance with defence and commercial specifications.Performing touch-up painting and onboard preservation to meet specific client requirements.Applying specialty finishes, including anti-corrosion coatings and epoxy flooring, for marine fit outs.Refurbishing and maintaining teak decking and other decorative marine surfaces.Operating and maintaining painting and blasting equipment, including the enclosed blast room at the Portsmith workshop.
