We know that circumstances can create barriers to learning, so we offer our students personalised pathways, flexible study options and learning support.About the Role:To plan, develop, deliver and assess units of competency related to courses and to organize and deliver theory, practical, flexible and simulation classes in relevant subject areas including WH&S, community services, mental health and alcohol and other drugs.Duties:Liaise with industry contacts, networks and learning communities.Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance processes in relation to program and course administration, design, delivery assessment and evaluation of training materials.Work within the quality systems, (including the Australian Quality Training Framework), prepare lesson plans, develop work units, communicate and maintain records to a high standard as required.Keeping informed of educational developments and related government policies that will affect program delivery in community services programs or particular specialist areas or programs.Staying abreast of current thinking and of developments in technology that impact on the particular areas of expertise.Embrace new technologies and innovations and identify and implement continuous improvement strategies.Identify, create and participate in professional development relevant to teaching and the maintenance of vocational currency.Actively participate in staff meetings, ongoing curriculum development and other relevant professional development activities.Assist Lead Teachers, Program Leaders, Managers and work collaboratively with colleagues to establish and maintain a quality service and to ensure the effective operation of the assigned programs.Work within the framework of Melbourne Polytechnics policies, procedures and legislative/regulatory requirements.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Institute Occupational Health and Safety requirements and Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement policies and guidelines.Experience working in the Community Services Sector in government, public, private or community managed services.A Degree, Diploma or Certificate relevant in both content and academic level and industry experience relevant to the Diploma of Community Services and/or Certificate IV in Community Services.A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including Design and Develop Assessment Tools (TAEASS502) and Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills (TAELLLN4111) or (TAELLN401A).A thorough knowledge of current industry practices and procedures with a demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain liaisons within the Community Services Industry.Ability to take a lead role in the effective delivery of Community Services courses.Ability to teach and facilitate delivery of specialist Mental Health, Community Services and related courses to groups which may have a diverse range of abilities, backgrounds and readiness.Ability to use a variety of teaching modes and materials including flexible and industry-based delivery.A thorough knowledge of current industry practices and procedures with a demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain liaisons within the Mental Health, Community Services Industry.Ability to co-operate in a team environment and, where necessary, work effectively with minimum supervision.Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement.A current Working with Children Check (Employee) - mandatory.A valid National Police Check mandatory.Knowledge of current issues in higher education and vocational education and training particularly as they relate to the areas taught within the school - desirable.How to Apply:Please submit the following documents for your application to be considered:Current CVCover Letter (Please ensure that you address the Key Selection Criteria outlined in the position description)If you email us, please make sure you put the job title and job number in the subject line.Please note, applications received via email will not be considered - you must apply via the website.Candidates must hold a valid Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC).
