This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:Alkira Secondary College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Inclusion Aide to provide support to students with physical disabilities, including epilepsy, within our secondary school community. This role is integral in ensuring that students with physical challenges receive the assistance necessary to thrive academically and socially in a mainstream school environment. The Inclusion Aide will work closely with students, teachers, and other school staff to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment.Key Responsibilities:Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with physical disabilities and epilepsy, assisting with mobility, positioning, and daily activities.Support students during school routines, including transitions between classes, lunchtime, physical education, and extracurricular activities.Assist in the administration of medical support as required, including following individual health plans for students with epilepsy.Monitor students during seizures (if applicable), providing immediate support and following emergency procedures.Help students with physical tasks, such as note-taking, using assistive technology, and managing mobility aids (e.g., wheelchair, crutches).Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with teachers, Special Education staff, and the Inclusion Coordinator to monitor student progress and implement support strategies.Attend team meetings, training sessions, and relevant professional development to improve the quality of support provided.Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding students progress, challenges, and wellbeing (in collaboration with the school leadership).Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Child Safe StandardsVictorian government schools are child safe environments.
