Part-time permanent | Not for Profit | Animal Care & Veterinary Services Award rate $31.45 to $33.60 depending on experienceAt AWLQ, were committed to creating a brighter future for animals in need and keeping pets and people together by providing lifesaving support and resources to people in need with companion animals.About the roleAnimal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is currently looking for a permanent Part-time experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre. There will be a minimum of 1-2 shifts per week with the opportunity for additional shifts plus some public holiday and weekend work available.If you are an experienced Vet Nurse who wants to make a real difference in animals'' lives and loves leading your team to achieve their goals, this is your opportunity!You will join a dedicated professional team focused on caring for animals to achieve positive outcomes through treatment, fostering and adoption. This is a busy location with many animals needing AWLQs help. You will work with the veterinary team facilitating the efficient flow of animals through the clinic so they can go on to find their forever homes.You will liaise with multiple staff, departments, and foster carers daily so strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task are a must.Key ResponsibilitiesConsult Support: Support veterinarians with routine health examinations and medical cases.Foster Care Assistance: Assist veterinarians with foster carer consultations.Nursing Support: Assist in radiography, surgical procedures, monitor patient anesthesia and post-operative procedures. In-house and external pathology procedures. Prepare medications as required.Inpatient Care: Nurse hospitalised animals, monitor clinical signs and communicate with team.Organisation Pro: Prepare and implement surgery and consult schedules.Patient files: Data entry of health, treatment and behaviour information.Processes: Compliance with AWLQ policy and procedure, in addition to compliance with state and federal legislation.Equipment Maintenance: Scheduling and management of veterinary equipment.Stock control: Ordering supplies.What are the minimum requirements for this position?Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or recognised equivalent.Ideally 3+ years'' vet nursing experience.Excellent animal handling skills, experience with anxious animals in the clinic environment.Experience in a busy, fast-paced work environment.Previous experience in a shelter/rescue environment will be highly regarded.To be successful in this role, you will have:Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills.Ability to manage your own time effectively and respectful of the time of others.Completes tasks thoroughly with strong attention to detail within deadlines.Versatility, flexibility and positivity.Who are we?Founded in 1959, AWLQ has become a trusted leader in animal welfare.
