We use gas, diesel and solar technologies to provide power across the Territory.Your New RoleAs the Operator/Maintainer Mechanical, you will provide a high level of technical expertise in industrial mechanical maintenance, performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities and modifications on industrial reciprocating equipment associated with critical power generating plant operating on diesel fuels.Your accountabilities include:Carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generations safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate values and strategies.Operate and maintain diesel reciprocating engines and electrical power generation equipment.Manage and investigate critical plant emergency incidents, complete plant failure/condition technical reports and efficiency assessments.Conduct site wide in-service checks and operation of all critical auxiliary balance of plant.Undertake daily inspections and maintenance on the power station ancillary equipment.Responsible for multiple energy source isolations including High Voltage electricity and in conjunction with issuing/controlling a permit to work system for multiple high risk work activities.Comply with manufacturers and Territory Generation procedures and recommendations for maintenance activity.Contribute to the development and maintenance of site records to ensure accurate historical information for maintenance purposes.Undertake typical housekeeping duties.Participate in an on call roster and travel to other stations when required.Minimum Requirements:A Mechanical trade certificate as a diesel fitter or equivalent with relevant experience in heavy industry.Demonstrated ability to isolate multiple energy sources and manage permit to work systems.Extensive experience in operating and maintaining diesel reciprocating engines (Cummins and Caterpillar knowledge highly desirable).Current drivers licence or ability to obtain, and a willingness to travel to other Territory Generation sites, as required.Demonstrated skills in the effective use of information technology, records, spreadsheets and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and ability to learn and operate computer based maintenance, stores and office management systems.Understanding of, and a strong commitment to, occupational health and safety, quality and environmental principles in an industrial environment with the ability to carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generations policies and corporate values and strategies.High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures whilst working as part of a team and independently to achieve operational strategic objectives.Ability to work a cyclic day shift roster and participate in the on-call after hours roster.Be self-motivated, possess an excellent work ethic and have the flexibility to work under pressure in a small team to meet deadlines and achieve operational strategic objectives.
